Two reasons. Firstly, the number of human rights violations in Trinidad and
Tobago evident through the volume of false imprisonment and malicious prosecution cases show there is a need to take legal action to seek redress and deter such wrongful and inhumane acts Secondly, outdated legislation in the form of the Immigration Act shows there is a need to update and amend legislation to account for refugees. The influx of Venezuelans and even refugees from other jurisdictions increase the need for the Immigration Act to be amended and updated.
