Brief info

Dr Carolyn Gomes, O.J., is a Jamaican physician and an internationally recognised
human rights advocate. She co-founded Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) in 1999 and
served as its Executive Director until 2013. From 2014 to 2018, she led the
Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVC), focusing on the rights of
marginalised groups affected by HIV/AIDS. Dr Gomes was awarded the United
Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 2008 and the Order of Jamaica in
2009. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Caribbean Centre for Human Rights
and is a board member of the Developing Country NGO Delegation to the Global
Fund.
