Citizenship applications

Citizenship application

Citizenship is a legal status that connects an individual to a specific country. It gives a person rights, responsibilities, and protections under that country’s laws—such as the right to vote, the right to live and work without restrictions, and access to public services like education and healthcare.

A citizenship application is the formal process by which a person requests to become a recognized citizen of a country. This process is important for people who were not automatically granted citizenship at birth or who have lost proof of nationality.
