Alicia is an accomplished environmental and development professional with over 20 years’ experience in project management, sustainable development, and stakeholder engagement across the Caribbean. Her work bridges the fields of environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable tourism, with a strong record of leadership in both national and regional initiatives.
At the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Trinidad and Tobago office, Alicia serves as Senior Programme Assistant, where she leads on climate action, partnerships, and resource mobilisation. She has contributed to the UNHCR Regional Strategic Plan for Climate Action (2024–2030) and plays a key role in developing and managing multi-year partnerships that strengthen humanitarian and environmental outcomes.
Previously, as National Project Coordinator for the GEF-funded UNEP IWEco Project under the Environmental Management Authority, she successfully led the rehabilitation of degraded quarry lands through ecosystem-based approaches and capacity-building for community-based officers. Her background also includes project design and evaluation work for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), and the Tourism Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
Alicia holds an MSc in Tourism and Conservation from the University of Kent and an Honours BA in Environment and Resource Management from the University of Toronto. She has also completed professional training in Climate Change and Human Rights, Disaster Risk Reduction, Water and Environmental Law, and Communications for Development.
Known for her collaborative approach and results-driven leadership, Alicia brings a unique blend of environmental expertise, strategic planning, and relationship-building to every initiative. Her ability to connect sustainable development priorities with practical project delivery makes her an invaluable asset to CCHR’s mission and to partners across the region.
